More Info

Young Audiences of Northeast Texas is pleased to announce that, Elizabeth Kahura, will be performing for the students at both Orr and Caldwell Elementary Schools, on Thursday, February 16th. She will be at Orr in the morning at 9:00 and 10:00am and at Caldwell in the afternoon at 12:45 & 1:45pm.

Ms. Kahura, born and raised in Kenya, uses her experiences there as inspiration for her presentations. Her shows demonstrate the similarities and differences between US and African cultures. Elizabeth crafts her presentation in such a way that the audience leaves not only with a better understanding of life in Africa but how this knowledge can be applied to their lives. A main goal of all her programs is to encourage a more tolerant attitude towards cultural differences.

Elizabeth Kahura is one of over 30 teaching artists available to local schools through Young Audiences of Northeast Texas, a not-for-profit organization providing learning through the arts to area schools. Funding for the performance has been provided by Tyler ISD’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts and Young Audiences of Northeast Texas.
